Common Web Hosting, Domain, and Related Questions

Can I start small and upgrade as needed?
-Yes, in fact, you can upgrade from the smallest shared plan all the way to dedicated servers. We will move your sites from server to server as needed, and there is never any charge.

What do I need to use your web hosting services?
-an internet connection and web browser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox is all that is needed.

Can you move my site to eVerity from my old host?
-Yes, when you log in you can go to "Manage Hosting > Transfer From Another Provider" and complete the form. If your old host uses cPanel, we can usually transfer your site in less than 30 minutes. If your old host uses a different control panel, it may take up to 24 hours.

Can I accept credit cards on my site?
-Yes, there are two ways you can do this. You can use PayPal or a "3rd party payment processor," or you can apply for your own merchant account. If you have your own merchant account you can use our free SSL certificate included with your hosting account, or to be slightly more professional, you can purchase your own.

We will give you $25 if you apply for a merchant account through our partner, MerchantFocus (formerly e-online data) and are accepted. It is free to apply, and they offer the lowest rates in the industry, guaranteed.

What happens if I go over my data transfer limit?
-We will notify you by email when you are getting close. If you reply, we will most likely increase your limit at no charge. However, if you exceed your limit every month, we may ask you to upgrade to a higher plan. If you do not respond to our emails, we may suspend your account temporarily until we can contact you.

What is your cancellation policy
-Hosting accounts can be canceled at any time. If you paid for more than one month, we will issue a credit on any unused months left in your billing cycle, which can be used for future purchases. If you cancel within 30 days of signing up we will refund the full amount upon request (In this case, you would receive a cash refund).
-Domain names and SSL certificates are not refundable, but do not automatically renew unless you have specifically set them to "auto-renew."

What fees do you charge?
-We do not charge any fees to set up, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel accounts. We do not charge any fees if you go over your transfer limit, though we may ask you to upgrade your plan. If there are billing problems, we may charge a late fee, but we will refund almost any fee upon request if you believe it was charged unfairly.

Do you give refunds if there is downtime?
-As you may have heard, downtime is extremely rare for eVerity customers. However, if your site was down, please let us know and we will refund up to 1 full month of your hosting fees.

How can I transfer my site to eVerity with no downtime?
-We can attempt to do this for you if you would like. We may not be able to do this for free if your site is especially large or on another platform, but please contact and we will let you know whether or not we can do it for free. In most cases, we can.

What servers do you run?
-We spare no expense in maintaining the highest quality servers. The typical server specs are: DUAL E5310 Quad Core Xeon 1.60GHz 1066FSB 8MB Cache, 4GB RAM, SAS drives with RAID1 backup (daily and weekly backups). To maintain a high level of security our servers are protected with an advanced firewall. Anti-virus definitions are updated automatically every 8 hours.

What platform and OS do your servers run?
Linux CentOS and Apache. It is not uncommon for this configuration to run for a full year without needing to reboot. It is very efficient, secure, and stable.

Will I be able to check my email from anywhere?
-Yes. You can use WebMail and check your email from any browser. You can also use POP3/IMAP to check email from a software mail client on your computer, such as Microsoft Outlook Express. We encourage you to use our email services. We know you will be impressed with our junk mail filtering.

How long does it take to set up my account?
-For security reasons, we check new accounts for fraud. New hosting accounts are usually set up within 20 minutes. If you have opened other accounts with us, and they are in good standing, set up is usually faster.

I just signed up. Why is my account disabled?
-Sometimes legitimate accounts appear to be fraudulent. If you just signed up and get a message that your account is disabled or suspended when you log in, please contact us so that we can verify whatever information we have questions about. The most common causes are
a) your IP address or ISP is far away from the address you gave us when you signed up.
b) there are high numbers of fraudulent orders coming from your country
c) our payment processor, for whatever reason, deemed your payment information as high-risk.
d) You appear to have intentionally committed fraud
e) You have violated our terms of service

In all cases, please contact us if your account is disabled. We will research the situation, and let you know what needs to be done for it to be resolved.

How can I pay for my account? There are many payment options available. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal.

How long does it take for my domain name to start working with your service?
-If you register your domain name through us, it is usually instant. If you are directing your name from another provider, it may take them them 12 to 72 hours.

I registered my domain name somewhere else. Do I have to transfer it to eVerity?
-No, this is not necessary. You may simply log in to your registrar's (or old provider's) web site and modify the nameservers as instructed in the email we will send you when you set up your hosting account.

Can I test my site on your hosting service before I update my domain's name servers?
-Yes, when you open a new hosting account, we will send you the information you need to view, update, and test your site without having to use your domain name.

How does your signup process work?
-You can register for a free user account. No credit card or payment information is needed to do this. Registration is instant. Once opened, you can then log in to our web site. After you log in you will have full access to register and set up as many of our services as needed. You will only be asked for payment information if/when the cost of the services you add exceed the credits in your account.
