Semi-Dedicated (Business) Hosting

Every web site goes through that awkward stage where it has outgrown shared hosting, but is not quite ready for a Virtual Private Server or a dedicated server.

When you upgrade to the semi-dedicated package, you are moved from sharing a server with other web sites, to sharing a powerful VPS with a much smaller number of web sites. We carefully select which accounts go on which VPS. For example, if your site is busiest during 10am and 7pm, we would match it up with another site that is slow during those times, but busy during the times when your site is slow. The most likely scenario is that 50% of the sites on the VPS would be on one side of the world, and 50% on the other, ensuring that full resources are available during peak hours.

You'll also be allowed to use up to 25% of the server's overall CPU cycles on an average basis, as opposed to the limit of 5% that is imposed on shared hosting accounts. Semi-dedicated accounts are watched very closely, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure optimal performance of your web site at all times.

As an added bonus, semi-dedicated customers automatically receive Priority Support for free. This is a $10 per month value. Priority Support customers can have their tickets moved to the front of the support queue.

We are flexible with space and transfer limits on this plan. By default, they are set to

50 Gigs of disk space
200 Gigs of data transfer
25% CPU usage

These limits could be higher, but our goal is to eliminate overselling as much as possible, thus ensuring the greatest possible performance of your web site. If you need additional space/transfer, we will work with you to ensure that your needs are met with minimal cost increase.

Eventually, you may outgrow this plan as well, which means you'll be ready for a virtual private server. We will work out a custom solution for you if and when the time comes to upgrade.
